We spent a lot of time at the Landing as Caleb was quite impressed with the fountains. The weather was fabulous and so were patio dinners at night since both kiddos do so well outside.
Our hotel had the best view Caleb could imagine as it looked over the train depot. He loved watching the trains come and go. To his surprise, I took him during the day that Matt worked in Springfield. He liked the big dining car window where we sat, that the conductor came around to punch his ticket with an "E" and "C" just like the Polar Express, and he got to ride the train like "knuckle Tim."
Not only did the hotel have a great view, but it also had a mud puddle brought in just for his red shoes. Each time he ran back and forth from me to the fence to see the train, Caleb kept eyeing this mud puddle. I fought back a laugh as he processed the situation. On one pass he looked to each side, stuck in a toe, then the entire foot, and soon bent at the knees with a splash of a pro.
On top of everything else, Caleb approved of his sleeping arrangements. I think he could get used to a big bed and lots of pillows. These weren't Emma Kate's sleeping arrangements but she sure enjoyed rolling around in the sheets and was so cute doing it. This trip was a great way to end the summer!
