Hayesville, NC

After traveling through most of Tennessee we made it to North Carolina. Our drive along the Ocoee River was beautiful. The sight of white water rafters brought back high school memories of the cold water.

One of our surprises for Caleb was visiting a model train display.
If viewing the walls of trains wasn't enough, we then walked through an elaborate display of many local landmarks.

Emma Katherine enjoyed adding train sound effects.

Back home, the favorite was no surprise...throwing rocks in the river.

The Cherokee Homestead exhibit in Hayesville allowed us to experience a to-scale replica of a Cherokee summer house, winter house, corn crib and canoe.

In honor of our little one on the way, we also spent a day in the small town of Clayton.

Nashville Bound

Caleb was very excited to start our journey. He was the first one packed and proceeded to roll his suitcase around the house all day Wednesday even though we weren't leaving until that evening. We awoke Thursday morning leaving Little Rock and driving all the way to Nashville. Our afternoon was spent at the Hermitage, the home of President Andrew Jackson.
The day was beautiful and the kids enjoyed running through the grounds.

Caleb also enjoyed the audio guide and listening about each stop.

Each room was still well decorated with original furnishing. Here is the dining room.

While Caleb took a bathroom break, Miss Emma Katherine was almost more cuteness than the camera could stand.

Our journey was full of singing and silliness...definitely a lively crew!

Our dinner stop was at Cock of the Walk. Emma was impressed with the high flying cornbread and Caleb thought this giant rocking chair that dwarfed even Matt was pretty cool.

Wedding at Lake Weddington

Saturday we also attended the most precious wedding for Alex and Katherine. It was our first trip out to Lake Weddington, but definitely need to go back.

Miss Emma Kate took off her sandals and insisted on her favorite shoes...her pink Converse. She received lots of smiles and sweet comments.

Lego Fun

When I brought home a card with information about a Lego morning that Bricks 4 Kidz was having at the Jones Center, Caleb was all questions. He really carried it around the house asking nonstop when we could go. I made him watch me register his name online and Saturday morning we went to do all things Lego.
Grandma was in town and it was her birthday. It seemed like the perfect present to Caleb.
He took a few rides down the roller coaster, did spin art with the motorized legos, and was excited about all the people they had to add to his creations. I have a feeling we will be checking this place out once it opens in Springdale.

Short Soccer Season

Soccer season this spring has been very short. They have only been able to play two games due to so much rain. Despite not many games, he really enjoyed practicing and showed great improvement.
Caleb was really excited to meet his soccer buddies for ice cream and get medals.

He didn't know what to do with his muddy hands and was shocked to hear me tell him to wipe them on his clothes as it was something I would not ever tell him to do ordinarily.

This past Saturday was a beautiful sunny day. They really worked up a sweat, but Caleb hung in there. Emma Katherine was only concerned about the tunnel to be built afterwards for the kids to run through. After a great game, we joined Daddy for the pool opening. We didn't put in more than our feet Saturday, but they were brave Sunday and swam purple lips and all.
