Welcome Clayton Matthew

August 26th at 3:13am, Matthew and I welcomed Clayton Matthew into the world. Our hearts are overjoyed to meet this healthy baby boy!
Our induction was actually scheduled later that morning, however, he had been trying to make an appearance all week. Consistent contractions started Tuesday evening, we made a trip to the hospital Wednesday night, and an extra doctor's appointment Thursday morning so we were looking forward to Monday just not expecting it to come quite so early. At 1:00am we headed to the hospital hoping to get to stay. This picture was taken after 3:00am after I had a perfect epidural. After days of labor I appreciated this one much more than the first two.
I don't know if we were more surprised by the head full of dark hair or such a small size. He weighed 6 pounds 15 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long.
How wonderful it was to watch my husband embrace another little bundle of joy.
There's nothing like your precious little one being placed in your arms.
Where do you even begin in praying for such an amazing miracle of life? I am completely humbled, thankful, and full of praise to be chosen the mommy to such a precious little boy.

We had to shed the hat to admire such a head full of hair. After a couple hours with Mommy and Daddy, Clayton was off to the nursery for his checkup and bath.

In the meantime, Grandma brought Caleb and Emma Katherine to see their new baby brother. Their first task was moving Mommy to a new room.
Emma was fascinated with the phone...bright blue with two handsets to talk to more than one person at a time. What more could she want?
Around 8:00am Clayton rejoined us. The reaction was priceless. "Baby Clayton! It's your baby Clayton!" exclaimed Emma Katherine. "He's perfect," Caleb said in such a sweet voice.
All cleaned, Clayton's hair was nice and fluffy.
We just stood and admired him.

He was quite alert as there was much for him to see.

Everyone got a turn holding baby Clayton. They looked so cute and proud in their big bro/sis shirts.

Grandma patiently waited until the kiddos had their chance.
Grandma took the kids and a proud little boy went to school to tell everyone about his new baby brother.
Then the pictures began.

Sweet feet!

And even a sweet smile to melt our hearts! Clayton Matthew, you are such a blessing to our family!
