Emma Katherine at 14 Months

Emma Katherine at 14 months is sweet, social and very vocal. Her top two teeth emerged on the same day which puts her count at four. She will use them to eat just about anything you put in front of her. She's walking all over the place, has started climbing and not very fond of being corrected of that. She stands from anywhere and takes off. She is very animated with her voice carrying on quite a babbling conversation. She will sign please and more which looks more like she is applauding herself.
This is the grin I come home to everyday. Lucky me!
The farther she goes, the more she beams.

She continues to get a little more hair on top and in the back. Emma Katherine loves her bows pointing to them in her room and 'bow' is proudly in her vocabulary. If something is not what she wants, Emma will shake her her head 'no' without hesitation. A favorite is her push toy that she maneuvers all over the house. She also enjoys her baby doll that laughs when pushed. Emma Katherine loves the bubble app on our phones as much as Caleb did. Holding anything in her hands is a quick distraction of what was troubling her to cry especially when it is something her big brother has brought. Caleb loves to act silly just to hear her squeal with excitement. He is so affectionate to her amid the not-so-intentional roughness.
She loves to sit whether it's on the ledge or climbing up in her little chair with legs dangling. Her favorite spot to sit is her daddy's criss-crossed lap and to watch her keep him seated is quite funny. Needless to say she doesn't give up her comfy spot easily.

Although she is doing quite a bit of walking, crawling is still her trusted method of getting where she wants to go.You have to keep an eye on her thing as this sneaky little monkey will start to climb on you! The bumps and bruises she has had so far are only the beginning.

After a lot of playing outside our tootsies need cleaning especially since she prefers not to wear shoes. The tiny little thing can still fit in the sink!

Caleb's Little Garden

One afternoon while Daddy was off working and Emma Katherine was still sleeping, we had a little fun. This month we've had lots of talk about all of the things God has made. I brought home some seeds from a teacher breakfast and thought it would be neat let Caleb watch them grow. We thought about everything a plant needs to grow and he even found all of the letters on the keyboard to type his label. We even tied it up to ensure it didn't become a miniature sandbox but not needed. I was prepared to insert a plant if nothing happened, but we can see lots of green in our cup.

Wrapping up August

During evening trips to the pool, Caleb has done some swimming without his buoy.

Caleb loves to talk about changes at church. At first he referred to it as his new church, then his new class, and last week he said, "it's just class." Seems like a sure sign he feels right at home!
Between the diaper, legs and mid-conversation hand gesture, this picture makes me smile. We decided it was time to take down the jump-a-roo since Emma now just walks around it and a little friend is going to get good use of it.  She did manage to sit her little self in the seat while it was on the floor. She's a funny girl!

A friend I used to work with no longer lives here and now watches these sweet little ones grow in pictures. She made the sweetest little hat with a pretty flower on it. She knows this little one well!

Caleb can be so sweet to Emma Katherine. I love to hear him reassuring her that she's okay, hear her squealing as he pushes her in the Cozy Coupe, or see them actually starting to play together. "Ahh, Emma don't cry, it's okay, you'll be alright, I'm right here" is enough to melt my heart.

A little bit of August

I am back to school so the speed around our house has definitely picked up for fall while the temperatures help us still hold on to summer. Here are a happy crew after a Saturday morning at the farmer's market and unanimous nap.
For the past couple weeks Caleb has been in his new Sunday School class. He is officially in the preschool area. Occasionally, I'll recite one of his verses. This week, he finished me and I was reminded that my voice isn't silent to his ear.
Caleb wouldn't slow down for an instant even for a picture in his new room.

First Practice & First steps

After a walk and wagon ride Saturday morning, we went to watch the Razorback football practice. Caleb enjoyed walking up and down the front row commenting on everything he saw.
Throughout the year we wants to go to see "football quarterbacks" and go to the football stadium that he says in a very enthusiastic voice every time we pass. So you can imagine his excitement when we actually did Saturday.
After watching some of the practice we hit the square for the farmer's market.
Caleb enjoyed dancing around to the music and Emma Katherine looked precious in her new crocheted flower we bought.
We even ran in to some dear friends and were able to wish Lydia a happy birthday in our best Russian. I think she appreciated the effort, but know she enjoyed holding Emma.
Because the weather was just too perfect to go inside, we had Thai lunch on the patio. Miss Emma was quite a fan of the veggies and rice.
Earlier this week Emma Katherine decided to take her first official steps without holding on to anything. They were completely by mistake so she has only repeated once. I didn't get the best picture since her steps were so short lived. I'm sure intentional ones aren't too far behind!
Grandma visited bringing Caleb a few fall clothes. He couldn't wait to try on toboggan and sweater not understanding why he had to take them off.
