The next morning our dark stateroom kept us asleep in Bari until it was almost time to meet our tour to Alberobello. This was such a unique place full of small white cone-shaped Trullo houses. One of the original reasons they were built without mortar between the stacked stones is so that they could easily be disassembled to avoid high taxes and then reassembled easily.
In the more residential area, an elderly couple was waiting to show us around their Trullo home and it was precious. You truly feel as thought you've stepped into a fairytale. Each glance was postcard worthy.
We had lots of time to wander through the stone-path streets and were welcomed inside by shop owners to try local drinks and desserts. We've now added a favorite to the list for sure.
Our drive back was lovely as well as evening views of Bari.
